"Dramatic weather accompanied by clouds is so rare in Southern California that it's a treat to paint. On this particular day the gray sky made the colors of the bluffs and reeds stand out. I wanted to capture that quiet, moody feeling of the Back Bay as a storm was just about to arrive."
